Distance Education Guide
Posted by on March 4, 2011The trend of distance learning or Education has been increasing from the last decades and now we know about a number of universes and colleges which are offering the off-campus education opportunities for the various national and international students. A number of degrees and courses on almost all subjects are offered by various institutes. Distance education is made possible with the advent of new internet as the students are able to learn from their home. The students are able to get not only the academic education from this way but they can also enjoy the various types of training through it.
Here is a simple process which is used commonly in distance learning education.
- A systematic process is used for distance education; the student first selects the course, degree or diploma in which in he is interested. After selecting course from the list of programs he has to apply for this program by entering his educational data, complete name, address etc in the application form. He also has to attach his picture in the application form.
- After filling the application form he can submit it after disclaiming that all information provided in the form is accurate and correct.
- The university reviews the application of student keenly and if it finds everything correct then register the student and send registration notification to him.
- Normally , the company demand that the course fee should be send along with application form while other require the course fee after the application approval.
- After getting registration number and approval from the university the person become the student of the institute. He first gets the course outline, textbooks and curricula online so that he can get an idea what he has to cover in his program.
- He receives the weekly assignment in his email which he has to be submitted within the specific time period. The student works on the assignment and the return to the professor who checks it and gives the student grade or marks according to university’s policy.
- The class room setting is created in which professor gives the lecture online to the enrolled students by using live streaming method or through video conferencing. This environment is exactly same as of class room because a student is better able to ask any question from his mentor.
- The student also get the video, audio presentation, e-mails or printed material relevant to his course and such thing provide him basic knowledge and understanding of the course.
- The exam is conducted at the end of each course and after the completion of course, student get the degree from the university. Normally the exam is taken from the student in the present of the proctor who works as an examiner on the behalf of university.
